PURPOSE: A method for controlling brightness and contrast of plasma display device is provided to control the period in which a real sustain discharge is occurred in every sustain period previously assigned for respective sub-fields, thereby accurately controlling the brightness and the contrast. CONSTITUTION: The method for controlling brightness and contrast of plasma display device comprises a step lengthening or shortening the period in which a real sustain discharge is occurred in every sustain period previously assigned for respective sub-fields, thereby controlling the brightness of a total screen. The sustain discharge period is controlled by synchronizing a control turning an RF signal supplied to an RF electrode on/off to a clock pulse having a very short pulse width on ns unit. |
