A communication device communicates with a plurality of terminals using a frequency hopping sequence. The communication device is configured to determine that one of the plurality of terminals is subject to interference on a frequency in the frequency hopping sequence and to, in response to that determination, schedule communication with that terminal to avoid that frequency (eg by scheduling communications to occur in a timeslot which corresponds to a frequency other than the frequency with interference, or by skipping communications on that timeslot altogether). Interference may be determined on the basis of information received from the terminals or from the communication deviceâ s own observations (eg failure to receive acknowledgements). The communication device may be a base station in a machine-to-machine network operating in white space. |
