PURPOSE: An authentication method and system are provided to minimize authentication resources for a service providing server by clearly separating roles of an authentication server and a service providing server. CONSTITUTION: An authentication request receiving part(310) receives an authentication request from a client terminal. An authentication key generating part(320) generates an authentication key. An authentication key transmission part(330) transmits the authentication key to the client terminal. An authorization confirmation key receiving part(340) receives an authorization confirmation key from an authentication terminal. An authentication execution part(350) performs authentication for a user identifier related to the authentication terminal based on the authentication key and the authorization confirmation key. An authentication approval part(360) transmits authentication approval information to either the client terminal or the service providing server according to authentication execution results.
