<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent useless consumption of color materials by suppressing image quality deterioration possibly occurring due to an individual difference between equipment when performing an operation in a color material use amount suppression mode. <P>SOLUTION: A density patch toner image having the highest density is formed on an image carrier by an image forming section (S101), and the density of the density patch is detected by a density sensor. Whether a toner reduction mode based on a total amount regulation value is on or off is confirmed, and when the toner reduction mode is on (YES at S104), referring to a table where the highest density is associated with the total amount regulation value based on the highest density value detected at S102, a total amount regulation value corresponding to the highest density value is obtained, and then, the obtained total amount regulation value is regarded as the total amount regulation value to be set in the toner reduction mode (S105). By performing the operation according to this flow, a color material use amount suppression operation advantageous to a reduction in total amount regulation value while maintaining a color reproduction area is enabled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
