This image processing device for processing a stained specimen image including hematoxylin staining comprises: a dye spectrum storage unit (233) for storing a dye spectrum used in staining; a change characteristic calculation unit (2501) for calculating a change characteristic in the wavelength direction of the dye spectrum on the basis of the dye spectrum; a dye amount/wavelength shift amount estimation unit (2505) for estimating at least the hematoxylin staining dye amount and shift amount in the wavelength direction in each of the pixels in the stained specimen image, on the basis of the dye spectrum and the change characteristic; and a cell nucleus extraction unit (2507) for extracting a cell nucleus region of the stained specimen image, on the basis of the estimated shift amount in the wavelength direction.
