Respiratory system with a humidifier and a pre-conditioning system with a dewpoint controller

Disclosed is a respiratory system for enhancing respiratory care patient comfort and compliance. The system has a humidifier system (41) comprising an inlet (52) for taking in a breathable gas and a humidification chamber connected to the inlet for heating and humidifying the breathable gas before delivery to a patient. A pre-conditioning system pre-conditions the breathable gas before entry into the humidification chamber in a controlled manner. The respiratory system comprises at least one dewpoint system for determining the dewpoint of the breathable gas and being in communication with a controller. The controller controlls the pre-conditioning system on the basis of the dewpoint determined by means of the dewpoint system.
