<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrosurgical instrument that reproducibly and reliably achieves surgical procedures without depending on the experience of a surgeon. <P>SOLUTION: The electrosurgical snare instrument 11 includes an elongated flexible tubular sheath 13 having proximal and distal ends, the sheath having a longitudinal axis defined therethrough and a shaft 18 having proximal and distal ends. The shaft 18 extends through the sheath and is axially movable relative to the sheath 13. A snare loop 24 is provided at the distal end of the shaft and is configured for encircling tissue. Movement of the shaft relative to the tubular sheath 13 changes the diameter of the exposed snare loop. A feedback sensor operatively is connected to the elongated tubular sheath 13 which determines at least one condition of the snare loop 24. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
