[Also in Division B3] A reel stand comprises a frame 10, 12, 13, Fig. 1 (not shown) adapted to hold a reel 15 for rotation about a horizontal axis and having an upwardly opening slot 18 to receive the reel spindle, and a loading arm 11 pivoted to the frame at 26 and having a notch 27 adapted to receive the reel spindle 21a when the arm is in a lower position lla and to allow the spindle to roll into the slot when the arm is raised to an upper position 11. The arms 10, 12, 13 each comprise spaced strips 14, Fig 2 (not shown) welded to centre plates 16. Removable spacers such as 39, 40 permit the stand to be adjusted for different widths of reel. Arm 13 carries an axle 33 with wheels 36, arm 10 has feet 37 and arm 12 carries guide rollers 41 and a guide arm 52 for the material on the reel, which may be steel band used for banding crates. Pivoted arm 11 has a handle 47, Fig. 3 (not shown) and its inner end provides abutment surfaces 30, 31 which lock the arm in its raised position when the reel spindle enters the slot 18. |
