A gasoline composition having anti-rust properties comprises a gasoline and from 8 to 320 parts per million based on the gasoline of a mixture of mono- and dialkyl esters of phosphoric acid, wherein the alkyl groups contain from 12-20 carbon atoms per group, partially neutralized with a primary alkylamine (see Division C2). Effective primary amines include those containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms in the alkyl group which is preferably straight-chained and unsubstituted although it may be branched and contain substituent groups such as hydroxy and halogen. The preferred amine is n-butylamine. The alkyl groups of the mono-and dialkyl esters preferably are unsubstituted, have straight chains, contain 13 carbon atoms and the preferred esters are prepared by reacting a C13 oxo alcohol with P2O5. In combination with an anti-icing agent the composition possesses synergistic anti-icing properties. Suitable anti-icing agents are isopropyl alcohol, hexylene glycol or a combination of these two. The gasolines may also contain other additive materials such as solvent oils, corrosion inhibitors, e.g. a phosphorous containing dimer of linoleic acid, gum inhibitors, e.g. amines and phenols, dyes, e.g. 1,4-diisopropyl aminoanthraquinone and p - dimethyl aminoazobenzene and dye stabilizers, e.g. ethylene diamine, but will, however, comprise at least 95% by weight of hydrocarbons.ALSO:A mixture of mono- and dialkyl esters of phosphoric acid wherein the alkyl groups contain from 12-20 carbon atoms per group is partially neutralized with less than the stoichiometric amount of a primary alkyl amine required to neutralize the esters completely. Effective primary amines include those containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms in the alkyl group which is preferably straight-chained and unsubstituted although it may be branched and contain substituent groups such as hydroxy or halogen.
