<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for acquiring fall position data, which enable precise and low-cost estimation of a fall position of an airframe. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for acquiring the fall position data for estimating the fall position of the airframe plunging into the atmosphere from the outer space, the airframe keeps loaded with a capsule for acquiring positional information: after the airframe plunges into the atmosphere and before the airframe is destroyed by aerodynamic heating, the capsule is separated from the airframe; a GPS signal is received from a GPS satellite by a receiver provided in the capsule; a position of the capsule is identified on the basis of the GPS signal; capsule position data indicating the identified position is stored in a storage device provided in the capsule; after the capsule reaches the earth's surface, the storage device is recovered; and the capsule position data stored in the storage device is utilized as the fall position data so as to presume the fall position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
