A method for the continuous manufacture of a multi-layer strip for use as packaging material includes the steps of printing the upper face of a top layer strip material, corrugating an intermediate layer strip material, uniting the corrugated strip and a backing strip with adhesive and uniting the lower face of the printed top strip by adhesive with the united intermediate and backing strips. A machine for effecting the above process comprises spool holders 1, 2, 3 for supplying the strip materials 4, 5, 6, a helis printing machine 13 having a printing unit 14 and dryer 15 for printing the upper face of strip 4 which is supplied via a tension-controlling assembly 7-11 and guiding device 12, a corrugator 18 for strip 5, a first gumming device 19 for uniting the corrugated strip and backing strip 6 and a second gumming device 16 for uniting the printed top strip with the combined intermediate and backing strips. Union of the layers is synchronized by means of photo-electric cells 20, 21 liaising with automatic tele-controls acting directly on a speedadjusting means of the guiding device 12. The multi-layer strip may pass through a cutter 23 and divider 24. The layers may be of paper.
