The tableware protector basically comprises a laminar element (1), which may be made from recycled paper or any other material suitable for this purpose, and may have a shape that varies in accordance with the shape of the utensil with which said protector is to be used, such as, for example, circular, quadrangular, rectangular, triangular or another shape, having, along the entire peripheral edge thereof, on the underside of said laminar element (1), a region (2) to which an atoxic adhesive is applied, said region (2) of adhesive being covered by a removable strip (3) that has to be removed when said laminar element is applied to the utensil in question, which utensil to which the laminar element has been applied is then ready for provision to the end-user, who, at the time of use of said utensil, can remove the laminar element by detaching the strip (4), arranged transversally across the laminar element, in order to provide an opening in the latter through which the remainder of said laminar element may then be completely removed from the utensil, thereby allowing safe use thereof. In a variant construction of said tableware protector, the region (2) where the adhesive has been applied is positioned in such a manner as to provide an edge (5) on said laminar element.
