<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for culturing photosynthetic microorganisms using an upright transparent water tank that prevents intrusion and proliferation of microfauna such as Daphnia and Rotifera that preys on photosynthetic microorganisms, exhibits increased growth of the microorganism per unit installation area, obtains a suspension having higher concentration, enables mass production in a factory, and is easily installed on-site. <P>SOLUTION: The method for growing photosynthetic microorganisms includes sunlight irradiation of a photosynthetic microorganism suspension held in a transparent water tank 1 formed of a light transmitting material, wherein a gas reservoir 2 provided with an aeration/discharge mechanism is arranged inside the bottom of the transparent water tank 1. The culturing method and device are characterized by a step (A) in which the gas in the gas reservoir 2 is discharged to fill the gas reservoir 2 with the photosynthetic microorganism suspension, and the photosynthetic microorganism-predatory microfauna such as Rotifera is killed under anaerobic conditions, and a step (B) in which gas is bubbled into the gas reservoir 2 to raise the water level, and the photosynthetic microorganism suspension is irradiated with sunlight. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
