In an open-throated connecting device 10, closure of the throat is effected by an elongate pin 13 accommodated in a bore 11 through the device at one side of the throat, so as to extend across the throat, the pin being longitudinally ridged or formed as a rolled member subject to radial compression within the bore 11 whereby the pin engages frictionally with the wall of the bore to resist loosening or retraction. |
