SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PUSHING INFORMATION FROM HOST SYSTEM TO MOBILE DATA COMMUNICATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an event-driven redirection computer program ("redirector program") which operates in a host system.

SOLUTION: A system and a method are disclosed for pushing information from a host system to a mobile data communication device by sensing a trigger event. A redirector program which operates in the host system detects the occurrence of one or more user definition trigger events, thereby enabling a user to continuously direct a specific user-selected data item from the host system to a mobile data communication device of the user. The redirector program cooperates with an event generation application in the host system and a repackaging system, sets and detects a specific user-defined event prior to pushing a data item to a mobile device, and repackages the user-selected data item using electronic packaging.
