<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of shortening the time required until printing is completed after standby response state in an image forming device when printing data is transmitted from a communication device to the image forming device in an encrypted state. <P>SOLUTION: A communication system 1 includes an MFP 3 having an image forming device, and a communication device 5. The communication device 5 transmits an unencrypted print request and encrypted print data to the MFP 3. The MFP 3 includes a network I/F 18, a main control part 19 that performs decryption processing, a printer 15, and a power supply control part 20 that stops power supply to the main control part 19 and the printer 15 in such a state that electric power is supplied to the network I/F 18.
