PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing 3-O-hexadecyl-L-ascorbic acid is provided to suppress melanogenesis and to ensure skin whitening effect. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains 0.1-5 wt% of 3-O-hexadecyl-L-ascorbic as an active ingredient and 95-99.9 wt% of cosmetic excipient. The cosmetic composition is manufactured in the form of a skin softener, skin toner, astringent, lotion, milk lotion, nutrition lotion, cream, massage cream, moisture cream, essence, pack, soap, and body cleanser.
