A mixed aqueous solution of H3PO4 or other phosphorus source, FeSO4·7H2O or other divalent Fe compound, and H2O2 or other oxidizing agent, which are mixed in a prescribed proportion, is produced. This mixed aqueous solution is dripped into a pH 1.5 - 9 buffer solution, and a FePO4 precipitate powder is produced. This FePO4 is combined with a lithium compound such as Li(CH3COO) and LiFePO4 is obtained. An electrode active material mainly composed of this LiFePO4 is used in the positive electrode material of a secondary battery. Thus, a method for producing iron phosphate capable of producing high purity iron phosphate with high efficiency,lithium iron phosphate obtained using this production method, an electrode active material mainly composed of this lithium iron phosphate, and a secondary battery containing this electrode active material in the positive electrode are achieved. |
