PURPOSE: An air conditioning system for a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to improve initial heating speed by heating with condensation hear supplied from anair-cooled cooling apparatus when an engine is not preheated initially. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioning system for a vehicle comprises a first line(300), a second line(200), a third line(500), a fourth line(100), a plurality of three-way valves(140,320,250,230), and a control part. The first line is composed so that refrigerant can be circulated a compressor, a condenser, and an evaporator in order. The second line shares the evaporator and the condenser of the first line and also has an indoor heat exchanger for exchanging heat with a vehicle room. The third line has an air-cooled condenser. The fourth line is selectively connected to the second line and circulates in an engine. The three-way valves are mounted in a connection part of the first, second, third, and fourth lines to control flow of refrigerant. The control part controls operation of the three-way valve according to heating and cooling modes.
