APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CLASSFYING TACK-WELDING AND WELDING

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for discriminating tack-welding and welding are provided to fairly evaluate the work load of a welder by automatically discriminating whether work being implemented by a welding machine is tack-welding or welding. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for discriminating tack-welding and welding comprises a current sensor(2), a discrimination control unit(3), and a storage unit(4). The current sensor senses the arc current of a welding machine. The discrimination control unit discriminates from the sensed arc current whether work being implemented by the welding machine is tack-welding or welding. The storage unit stores information on tack-welding and welding charge quantities according to processes. The discrimination control unit calculates the charge quantity consumed by the welding machine from the current sensed by the current sensor for a specified time and compares the calculated charge quantity with the stored tack-welding and welding charge quantities.
