<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a lens barrel configured to avoid occurrence of shavings during assembling and prevent an assembled lens barrel from degrading in optical performance caused by the shavings; and a method for assembling a lens barrel. <P>SOLUTION: A lens holding member 130 is supported by an internal portion surrounded by the internal face 141 of a lens frame 140 and holds four lenses 111, 112, 113, and 114 and three interval rings 121, 122, and 123 all the way in their circumferential direction in an internal portion surrounded by an internal wall 131.
