<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble core which enables time for the removal thereof to be considerably shortened while it has simple constitution, and to provide a method for manufacturing the water-soluble core. <P>SOLUTION: The water-soluble core 10 is used for manufacturing a casting. A string-like thread 12 a part of which is exposed outside a core body 11 is cast in the core. The thread 12 is water permeable, and arranged so as to reach a space inside the core body 11.
