PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical position detecting device which can detect whether a target object is located outside or inside a region, where a detection light source is arranged.SOLUTION: In the optical position detecting device 10, the coordinates of a target object Ob are detected by detecting detection light reflected on the target object Ob by a photodetector 30 when a detection light source unit 12 emits a detection light L2. As viewed from a detection space 10R, the photodetector 30 is positioned closer to the inner side than to the plurality of detection light source units 12. Each of the plurality of detection light source units 12 includes outer light-emitting elements 12Ato 12Dand inner light-emitting elements 12Ato 12D. Accordingly, it is determined whether the target object Ob is positioned closer to the outer side, or to the inner side than the detection light source unit 12, on the basis of a comparison result between light-receiving intensity by the photodetector 30, when the outer light-emitting elements 12Ato 12Dare lit, and light-receiving intensity by the photodetector 30 when the inner light-emitting elements 12Ato 12Dare lit. |
