PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of the inkjet system which can form an image of high quality without generating difference in hue in a joint of belt-like images while improves ink impact position accuracy on an intermediate transfer body by eliminating rapid speed gradient in movement of an image forming surface of the intermediate transfer body and a recording head when forming the image on the intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: Nozzle heads 1, 2 composing a recording head are arranged facing an intermediate transfer drum 3, a nozzle array 1a of the nozzle head 1 and a nozzle array 2a of the nozzle head 2 are arranged in this order in the rotating direction of the intermediate transfer drum 3 with a desired shift width in the direction intersecting the rotating direction, and each of the nozzle heads 1, 2 moves relatively to the intermediate transfer drum 3 so that each nozzle array forms a spiral image on a surface of the intermediate transfer drum 3.
