PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crash testing device and a crash test method for an automobile body capable of performing a crash test while measuring acceleration applied to a vehicle compartment at a collision time. SOLUTION: The crash testing device 1 includes: a holding member 2 fixed to the first part 8 of the automobile body 0 for holding the automobile body 0 in a downward attitude; an attitude maintaining member 3 for maintaining the attitude of the automobile body 0 in a prescribed attitude at a drop time by being dropped downward in a guided state by a guide member 5, and by being fixed to the second part 9 positioned on a lower part than the first part 8 of the automobile body 0 held in the attitude; a drop mechanism 4 for dropping the holding member 2 for holding the automobile body 0 from a prescribed height; a guide member 5 for guiding the holding member 2 downward at the drop time; a collision member 6 with which the dropping automobile body 0 collides arranged on the lower part of the guide member 5; and a computation device mounted in the compartment of the automobile body 0 for carrying out computation on the basis of a measured value outputted by an acceleration sensor that detects acceleration applied to the vehicle compartment.
