PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly adjust a position of a steering column. SOLUTION: This steering device includes a lock mechanism 7 for switching to a lock state of regulating the movement by fastening the steering column 1 by fastening force from right-left sidewalls 6 and 5 possessed by a fixing bracket 2 and a releasing state of allowing the movement by releasing the fastening force. The lock mechanism 7 includes a shaft 20 for generating the fastening force in the right-left sidewalls 6 and 5 when tensile force in the axial direction is applied, a cam mechanism 23 for generating the tensile force in the shaft 20 when the shaft 20 rotates in one direction and releasing the tensile force when the shaft 20 rotates in the other direction, an operation lever 22 for rotating the shaft 20, and a regulating part (such as a stopper 24) for regulating the lateral movement of the operation lever 22 to an end part of the shaft 20.
