PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device capable of shortening a processing time for preview display and easily managing file data when a PDF file is obtained by the compression of a multivalued image. SOLUTION: The image processing device includes: a first compression means for generating first compressed data by the information compression of an image in a character area included in input image data; a second compression means for generating second compressed data by the information compression of a pattern image in which the image in the character area is removed from the input image data; a third compression means for generating third compressed data by the scale reduction and the compression of the input image data; and a generation means for generating PDF data by synthesizing the first compressed data, the second compressed data, the third compressed data and the position information of the character area.
