Disclosed is an air bag device wherein fastening sections between an engagement member and a lower surface member are prevented from being disconnected during deployment of an air bag. Said air bag device is provided with an air bag case (12) wherein is installed an inflator (5) that supplies gas to the air bag (1) housed in the air bag case (12); and an article, such as a fabric housing (11), which holds the air bag (1) when the same is housed in the air bag case (12). The fabric housing (11) is formed into a bottomed box the ceiling of which is open. The air bag case (12) is provided with an opening (12aa) for inserting the fabric housing (11). In this opening (12aa), the air bag case (12) comprises the engagement member (12a) provided with hooks (12ab) for engagement with an instrument panel; and the lower surface member (12b) which is fastened to this engagement member (12a). The engagement member (12a) and the lower surface member (12b) are disposed in an overlapping manner in such a way that the engagement member (12a) is positioned inside the lower surface member (12b) at the locations of the fastening sections (12c) for fastening the two members (12a, 12b). Due to the above, the fastening sections are not susceptible to disconnection during deployment of the air bag. |
