PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure in an atmospheric pressure sensor even without a GPS receiver. SOLUTION: An altitude change is calculated on the basis of an estimated vehicle body acceleration dV calculated on the basis of an inclination angleθand the detection signal of a wheel speed sensor detected on the basis of the detection signal of a forward/backward acceleration sensor. An atmospheric pressure change is estimated from the altitude change. By comparing the sensor value and estimated value of the atmospheric pressure change with each other, the failure in the atmospheric pressure sensor is detected, thereby detecting the failure in the atmospheric pressure sensor even without a GPS receiver.
