The railway car (1) has a fixed backrest placed with respect to a fixed base, and a mobile backrest placed with respect to the fixed base and folded back on the fixed base in a folded back position. Seats are placed successively in the fixed and mobile backrests or opposite over an entire length of the railway car. Luggage filling spaces are provided in the mobile backrest in the folded back position between two fixed backrests of the two successive seats. A rear of the mobile backrest directed towards the fixed backrest is covered with a material. The material is selected from aluminum, steel, magnesium or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.
