<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain information by a sufficient method for determining the classification of the management object device of a device management device and efficiently obtaining the information. <P>SOLUTION: The device is determined whether it is an own company machine or another company machine. For the other company machine, the device management device includes means for: obtaining information from the device whether the information can be obtained by a communication protocol which is common to each company; storing the information obtained from the device; discriminating whether the device is the own company machine or the other company machine; confirming whether communication is possible based on the communication protocol which is common to each company for the other company machine; confirming whether to obtain information based on the communication protocol that is common to each company as the function of the device management device; and obtaining the information based on the communication protocol which is common to each company.
