PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensing element, and a gas sensor having an excellent property such as the high sensitivity, a long lifetime and a low resistance, easily manufactured, excellent in the productivity, and easily obtaining the gas selectivity. SOLUTION: The gas sensing element 1 includes: a three-dimensional grid composite structure 4 in a state that semiconductor particulates 2 and noble metal particulates 3 contact each other; and pores 5 as voids spread in a three-dimensional mesh within the composite structure 4, and communicating with each other, and has a gas selectivity by selecting compositions of the semiconductor particulates 2 and the noble metal particulates 3, and changing a ratio of the semiconductor particulates 2 and the noble metal particulates 3.
