1295329 Modified epoxy resins CIBA-GEIGY AG 9 Nov 1970 [10 Nov 1969] 53241/70 Heading C3B [Also in Division D1] The invention comprises a product obtained by reacting: (A) a reaction product of 0À5-0À95 epoxide equivalent of a polyepoxide (I) with one acid equivalent of a polymeric unsaturated acid (II) and (B) a basic polyamide obtained by condensing a polymeric unsaturated acid (II) with a polyalkylene polyamine (III) in the presence of an organic solvent at 40-120‹C. The equivalent ratios of acid groups in (A) to amine groups in (B) is 1 : 0À4 to 1 : 6. I may be a polyglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. II may be a dimerized to trimerized C 16 -C 22 acid, e.g. linoleic or linolenic acids. The same II may be used in preparing component (B). III may have the formula H 2 N(CH 2 CH 2 NH) n CH 2 CH 2 NH 2 (n=1 to 3). The solvent used may be one which is infinitely miscibel with water optionally mixed with other water immiscible solvents. Uses.-Textile treatment, especially to render wool non-felting.
