HIGH SPEED SLIDING VITERBI DECODER FOR UWB SYSTEM AND DECODING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A high speed viterbi decoder for a UWB(Ultra Wire Band) system using a sliding method and a decoding method thereof are provided to use a sliding method and a radix 4 fast ACS structure, thereby reducing an overlap size. CONSTITUTION: A de-puncturing unit(510) restores punctured data to reconfigure data according to each coding rate in a receiving end. A branch metric calculating unit(520) quantizes data received from a channel. An addition comparison selecting unit(530) adds a new branch metric value and an accumulated route metric value to each transition. The addition comparison selecting unit outputs an alive metric value with the optimum route metric value and an alive route. A trace back calculating unit(540) finds the minimum route metric value by configuring a comparator of a tree structure.
