PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method suitable for exhaustively testing a large number of testing substances in high cost-performance to find out a substance having an effect to impart a living body with moistness among the testing substances. SOLUTION: Culture cells are seeded in a vessel of a bottomed culture vessel, the culture cells are cultured in a first liquid medium in a manner that the culture cells form a lamellar cell layer on the surface of the bottom in the culture vessel, and the cultured cells are further cultured in a second liquid medium containing the test substance. The moistening effect is evaluated by measuring the forming degree of a cell dome formed by swelling the cells in an arch form by water permeated into a space between the lamellar cell layer and the bottom face in the culture vessel.
