PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a working efficiency for heat-insulating a roof. SOLUTION: This heat insulating member for a roof is formed by providing a surface sheet 2 the three edge parts of which form outwardly extended extension parts 4a, 4b, 4c to one surface side of a synthetic resin foam plate 1. In this heat insulating method for a roof, the synthetic resin foam plate 1 is inserted between rafters 3, 3 from the indoor side, and the extension parts 4a, 4b, 4c are attached to the rafters or purlins.
