PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide measuring device and measuring method for a gap below a rail, which measures the gap between the rail and a rail-laid surface easily and efficiently.SOLUTION: In this measuring method, a first measuring means 22 measures the distance up to the upper face of a basic part 1a on an inner side of the rail 1, a second measuring means 23 measures the distance up to the upper face of the basic part 1a on an outer side of the rail 1, and a third measuring means 24 measures the height from the rail laid surface 3 of the rail 1. A control analyzing means 12 obtains the first height from the upper face of the basic part 1a on the inner side of the rail 1 to the first measuring means 22 based on the value measured by the first measuring means 22, obtains the second height from the upper face of the basic part 1a on the outer side of the rail 1 to the second measuring means 23 based on the value measured by the second measuring means 23, subtracts the average value of the first height and the second height and further the thickness of the basic part 1a of the rail 1 from the value measured by the third measuring means 24, and calculates the gap between the rail 1 and the rail-laid surface 3. |
