PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension applying device of a passenger conveyor capable of excellently keeping smoothness of the movement of an underframe over a long period, by preventing abrasion and damage.SOLUTION: This tension applying device has a chain 2 extended between a driving wheel and a driven wheel 6, the underframe 11 for supporting the driven wheel 6, a rail 13 for movably supporting the underframe 11, and a spring member for applying tension to the chain 2 by elastically energizing the underframe 11 in the direction for separating from the driving wheel. The underframe 11 is supported on the rail 13 via a guide shoe 21, and the underframe 11 moves in the contacting-separating direction to the driving wheel when the guide shoe 21 slidingly moves along the rail 13. The guide shoe 21 is formed of a metallic material or a synthetic resin material superior in abrasion resistance and slidability. |
