PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic brush seal system (100) for use with a rotating component (120) and a stationary component (110).SOLUTION: This magnetic brush seal system (100) may include a brush seal (125) for engagement with the rotating component (120) and a magnetic system (160) positioned about the stationary component (110). The magnetic system (160) may be in communication with the brush seal (125) so as to retract the brush seal (125) from the rotating component (120).
