摘要 <p>The invention relates to the field of sensors. In particular, the invention relates to a method for the detection of target nucleic acid in a sample by an electrochemical method. The method comprises contacting a solution suspected to contain a target nucleic acid molecule with a detection electrode comprising a capture nucleic acid molecule. The target nucleic acid molecule hybridizes with the capture nucleic acid molecule. A target probe can optionally be added. An agent, which has a molecule capable of transferring electrons to a metallic nanoparticle precursor material and being capable of binding to the target nucleic acid molecule associates to the target nucleic acid molecule. A metallic nanoparticle precursor material and a substrate compound are added. Metallic nanoparticles are formed. The method comprises detecting a change in the electrical current in case of formation of the metallic nanoparticles to determine the presence or absence of the target nucleic acid molecule.</p>
