<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-piece golf ball excelling in impact feeling, controllability and flying performance. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-piece solid golf ball G includes a core 1, a cover 3, at least one intermediate layer disposed therebetween, and a large number of dimples D on the surface of the ball. The diameter of the core, the amount of deformation under specific load, the hardness of the center, the hardness in a specific distance from the center, and the surface hardness are set within specific ranges. The intermediate layer is composed primarily of a material obtained by mixing under applied heat a specific resin composition, and the thickness, material hardness and material melt flow rate (MFR) of the intermediate layer, as well as the hardness difference between the surface of the solid core and the intermediate layer are set within specific ranges. The cover is formed primarily of a thermoplastic resin. The cover has a thickness, a hardness and a material melt flow rate (MFR), all being set within specific ranges.
