Class 77 A viewing device 4, Fig. 1, is attached to the barrel 1 of a harpoon gun to enable the operator to see in the direction in which the gun is pointing. The device has a transparent closure at its lower end so that it may be immersed below the surface of the water, and a lamp 9 enables the gun to be used at night. In a modification, Fig. 2, the gun 1 and viewing device 4 are secured to a supporting frame 10 which is pivoted to a frame 13 clamped to the side of a boat 15 so that they may be swung in a horizontal plane. The gun is pivoted to the frame 10 by a bracket 16 and is actuated in a vertical plane by a lever 17 which is pivoted to the frame 10 and attached to the gun by a link 19. A mirror 28 is mounted on a frame 20 which is pivoted to the frame 10 and connected by a link 22 with the gun, so that the operator on looking into the device can always see along the gun barrel. The gun trigger 3 is linked by a Bowden cable with a trigger 26 so that the gun may be fired remotely. |
