PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frictional engagement device and power transmission system wherein frictional engagement members are prevented from coming into engagement at the time when the members are placed out of engagement. SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of separator plates 5810 is placed respectively between a plurality of frictional members 5820. A permanent magnet 5830 magnetizes the separator plates 5810 and the frictional members 5820 so that the inner-peripheral sides and the outer-peripheral sides of them may have respectively different magnetic poles. Thus repulsion occurs each between the magnetized separator plates 5810 and the frictional members 5820. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
