Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, applications and systems for formatting, displaying and editing content on a mobile terminal. The content data formatted for display comprises a sequence of consecutive segments based on predetermined formatting parameter values. The consecutive segments include at least one marker segment associated with a content object, and are ordered such that markers appear with any text when displayed. The predetermined formatting parameter values include one or more of: parameter values based on display limitations for the mobile terminal, and user specified parameter values.
