<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser pointer which a user carries and uses, that is, a laser pointer which prevents total output of light during radiation of the light from getting too large, and achieves not only performance as illumination but also performance inherent to the laser pointer at a high level. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The laser pointer is configured by mounting, in a body which the user can hold: a light-emitting means for laser 3, which can radiate a laser beam; a light-emitting means for illumination, which can emit illuminating light; a power supply part 5 for supplying power to the light-emitting means for laser and the light-emitting means for illumination; an energizing detection circuit 6a and a control circuit 8. The laser pointer is configured such that light emission by the laser in a state where the light is emitted is made weaker than light emission thereby in a state where the light is not emitted by the energizing detection circuit and the control circuit.
