<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce loss upon a current holding operation of a SMES. <P>SOLUTION: The SMES device includes a super-conductive coil functioning as the SMES (a super conductor magnetic energy storage device), a synchronous rectifying circuit performing a charging operation for rectifying the alternating current supplied from an AC power source to generate a direct current for supply to the super-conductive coil, and a thyristor connected between the super-conductive coil and the synchronous rectifying circuit. A switching control device provided to the synchronous rectifying circuit turns on the thyristor to perform the charging operation upon the current holding operation of the super-conductive coil. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
