The device has an extraction spindle (7) inserted into a valve seat ring, and a spreading claw arrangement comprising three spreading claws (2) engaged with the seat ring. The claws are supported at the spindle in a movable manner, and a hydraulic device applies an axial traction force on the spindle in an extraction direction. The spindle is guided at a support in the extraction direction against a surrounding area of the seat ring. The hydraulic device is arranged at the support, and has a hollow piston cylinder connectable with the spindle for applying the traction force on the spindle. An independent claim is also included for a method for extracting a valve seat ring by an extraction device.
