PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for wing and run flat tire reinforcement layers having excellent low exothermic performance and high mechanical strength, as well as to provide a pneumatic tire, and a side reinforcement type run flat tire. SOLUTION: This rubber composition for wing and run flat tire reinforcement layers includes 100 pts.mass of a rubber component, and 10-150 pts.mass of silica, wherein the rubber component contains a butadiene rubber which is modified by a compound represented by formula (1), wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>may be equal or different, and are alkyl, alkoxy, silyloxy, acetal, carboxyl, mercapto or these derivatives, R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>may be equal or different, and are each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and n is an integer.
