The arrangement has an energy absorption element arranged between an external body i.e. bumper casing (4), and a vehicle-sided support element i.e. bumper cross beam (7). The absorption element is provided in a transverse direction. The energy absorption element is formed as a pipe component (8) with slots. The pipe component is formed as a thin-walled pipe made of light metal alloy, where the pipe component is connected with the bumper cross beam. The slots extend around a longitudinal axis of the pipe component between 150 and 320 degrees.
