PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for chafer excellent in work efficiency of rim assembling, producing a tire having high rubber strength, and excellent in processability; and to provide a tire produced using the composition. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises a diene type rubber and a hydrogenated liquid polybutadiene. Preferably, the rubber composition for chafer has a hydrogenated liquid polybutadiene content of 1-15 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the diene type rubber, a number-average molecular weight of 600-20,000, and the hydrogen addition rate for the double bond of 20-60 mol%.
